Privacy Policy
Sunny Drinks (“the app”) is operated by Robert Kump. In short: an account is optional and the whole app works without one. If you don’t sign in, we don’t collect any personal information. If you choose to sign in, we keep only what is needed to sync your favorite patios, and you can delete it from the app at any time. The app has no analytics or advertising, and we never sell or share your personal information.
What stays on your device
Your favorites, preferences (theme, units, start city, sort order, and similar), and sun-alert settings are stored on your device. The home-screen widget reads a short list of sunny patios that the app saves in storage shared between the app and its widget on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data. If you sign in, a copy of your favorites is also kept with your account (see below); nothing else is synced.
Optional account
You never need an account to use the app. Signing in (Preferences > Account) only lets your favorite patios follow you to other devices. If you sign in, we store:
- How you signed in: your email address (email and password, Google, or Sign in with Apple, including an Apple private relay address if you chose to hide your email) or your phone number (text-message code). For Sign in with Apple we also keep Apple’s identifier for you and a token Apple issues, so that deleting your account can also revoke the app’s access in your Apple account.
- An account identifier derived from the above.
- Your favorite patios: which patios you favorited or removed, and when.
We use this only to sign you in and to sync your favorites. We don’t use it for marketing, profiling, or advertising, and we don’t combine it with other data.
These providers process it for us: Amazon Web Services stores your account and favorites (Amazon Cognito, Amazon DynamoDB) in the United States. Your password is handled by Amazon Cognito, which never receives it in readable form, and we never see it. Twilio receives your phone number to text you a sign-in code, if you sign in by phone. Google or Apple handle the sign-in if you choose them, under their own privacy policies. Like most online services, our servers keep short-lived logs of requests, including IP addresses, for up to one month to keep the service secure and working.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time: Preferences > Account > Delete Account. This deletes your sign-in, your synced favorites, and your Apple link, revokes the app’s Sign in with Apple access, and signs you out on every device. Your favorites stay on your device. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 35 days before it is overwritten. Twilio keeps records of codes it sent under its own policy. You can also ask us to delete your account by email (below).
Location
If you allow it, the app uses your location to choose your city and to find bars nearby. We don’t receive or store your location. Location is processed on your device and by Apple, as described below. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
Services provided by Apple
The app uses Apple services that may receive your approximate location or search terms when you use the related feature: Apple Maps (MapKit) for the map and “Search Nearby Patios”, and Apple Weather (WeatherKit) for the Conditions tab. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy. We don’t get a copy.
Notifications
“Notify when sunny” alerts are scheduled locally on your device. They don’t use a server.
Email you send us
If you use “Suggest a patio” or report a sun/shade error, the app opens a pre-filled email in your mail app. Nothing is sent until you send it. The email contains what you see in the message (patio name, location, time, and your notes), plus your email address as the sender. We use it only to improve the patio data and to reply to you, and we delete it when it is no longer needed.
Patio data
Patio and building information comes from public sources such as city business-license and sidewalk-cafe data, OpenStreetMap, and Overture Maps, and is bundled with the app. It describes businesses and buildings, not people. See the About screen in the app for credits.
Tracking, analytics, and advertising
None. The app has no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking. Your account data is never sold, shared with data brokers, or used to track you across apps or websites.
Children
The app lists venues that serve alcohol and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above. If we ever add features that collect more data, we’ll update this policy before they launch.
